After some phone calls inside my company and to the French electric company (EDF) I have power again. What a mess that was. Apparently, EDF decided to send last month’s invoice to my address but with my company’s name and not mine on it, when they usually send the invoice to my company. Obviously, the post office became confused and didn’t deliver the invoice, and the invoice never got paid. Continue reading ‘Let there be light!’
Oh yeah…..
•March 12, 2008 • Leave a CommentI forgot I had a blog for a while. Quite a few things have happened since my last post. I’ll probably just do a quick summary of it all in a few days. But for right now, I just want the electricity turned back on in my apartment. I got home last night from work to find that I had no power. I called a friend who called the electric company for me. She found out that they cut the power because of an unpaid invoice. Ugh. I had to sleep in a hotel last night. Updates to come later.
What’s Next?
•February 5, 2008 • 5 CommentsI’m sitting here in bed wide awake and I know I’m not going to be able to sleep tonight and knowing that really sucks. Anyone who has talked to me recently knows I’m about to start the job hunting process. I’ll be looking within my company only because I signed a contract to stay on for a few more years. Well…. today it officially started and I can’t get my mind to stop running. Continue reading ‘What’s Next?’
Young me
•January 29, 2008 • 4 CommentsSo this is one of the pictures that my folks sent Julie. It didn’t make the calendar thank god. The strangest part is I have NEVER seen this photo before. I can’t be older than 4 or 5 in this pic. I have no idea where it was taken. I want to say Wisconsin, but it very well could be in Baltimore. Anyways…. everyone in my office has seen this……. thanks again mom…….

Birthday Celebration
•January 29, 2008 • Leave a CommentThursday was my birthday and my folks called me at work to wish me the best. They asked me if I had any plans for a celebration. I told them that Julie had planned something for me that night. My mom paused for a second and than said “We have talked to your friend Julie.” So apparently, Julie reached out to my folks to talk about my b-day. My mom send they sent some stuff to Julie but wouldn’t’ say anything else. Continue reading ‘Birthday Celebration’

It’s ma Birfday
•January 24, 2008 • 6 CommentsI’m 26 now, my last year of my “mid twenties”. Time certainly does fly. I have plans for tonight but I don’t know what they entail. All I’m being told is “Be ready by 6:30 to go.” I don’t know exactly what “to go” means but I’m sure I’ll get a good story out of it. Continue reading ‘It’s ma Birfday’
Piece of Cake
•January 21, 2008 • 4 CommentsI learned a new french expression today and I haven’t been able to stop giggling about it. “Les doigts dans le nez” which translates to “The fingers in the nose” I heard this in a meeting and it is equivalent to our expression of “Piece of cake”
I don’t think it’s a very commonly used expression by people my age because when I used it later after my meeting a colleague started laughing and asked where I learned it from. That’s not gonna stop me from still using it though. I think its pretty funny.
Brain Food
•January 18, 2008 • 9 CommentsI ate something last night that I never imagined possible….. and I somewhat enjoyed it. Went out to eat with Julie and Greg and I ordered something called La Classique Tete de veau. Veau basically means beef, so I figured it was a safe choice. Normally when you order a slab of beef the waiter will ask how you want it cooked, mine did not. *Que warning bells* Continue reading ‘Brain Food’
Family Visit Part 1
•January 13, 2008 • 2 CommentsMy family came out to visit me and we had a great time. I played host and tour guide for 4 days. They arrived on the 27th, Thursday, and I had a taxi pick them up and bring them to the hotel. I arrived about 20 minutes after they did, and I could tell there were a little run down already. None of them got much or any sleep on the flight. They said there were kind of hungry so I suggested a pizza joint just down the street. We sat and talked about my experience’s so far here in France and what everyone wanted to do while they were here. After finishing our meal we headed out to do a little bit of sightseeing, mainly the Madeline/Opera area. Maryann had a blonde moment when she forgot her purse in the restaurant and didn’t remember until we had already walked 3 blocks. Luckily, when we went back, our waiter had put the purse in the back and as soon as he saw us he brought it to her. Crisis averted. Continue reading ‘Family Visit Part 1′
